Abstract. This study, dedicated to the life of O. Akchokrakly (1879–1938), is based on new materials, discovered in a supplement to the “Terciman” newspaper for the years 1910–1912. The supplement, entitled “Alem-i-subyan” (“The World of Children”), was a small-format, 4-page publication included in each issue of the “Terciman” newspaper. I. Gasprinsky appointed O. Akchokrakly, a leading contributor to his newspaper, a talented writer, poet, professional calligrapher, and scholar, as the editor of the publication. A total of 64 issues, with a volume of 256 pages of Arabic script text, were discovered and examined. Dozens of unknown short stories, artistic sketches, and translations by Akchokrakly from Russian and foreign classics were identified. The article, based on specific examples, demonstrates efforts of O. Akchokrakly to improve his skills in the field of fiction. It is concluded that the author’s two historical dramas, “Crimean Giray” and “Adil Giray”, staged in Bakhchisarai in December 1917, were highly artistic works, according to eyewitness accounts, causing a “stream of emotions” and thunderous applause in the audience.
