Abstract. The article examines the issue of preserving the publishing heritage of the outstanding Crimean Tatar educator and publisher Ismail Gasprinsky on non-paper media, in particular on reels of microfilm. The history of creation of the currently known collection of microfilms of the “Terdzhiman” newspaper and the Alem-i Nisvan magazine by Norman Ross Publishing Inc. is studied. Copies of these microfilms are stored not only in domestic libraries, but also in the largest libraries in the United States, being valuable sources not only in the study of the history and culture of the Crimean Tatars, but also of other Turkic peoples of the world.

Keywords: Gasprinsky, Terdzhiman, Alem-i Nisvan, Crimean Tatar periodicals, US libraries, microfilming, reel-to-reel.
